  5. Maternal incidence of peripheral edema, hypertensive complications (pregnancy induced hypertension and pre-eclampsia) as well as a various parameters affecting obstetric outcome were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. Mothers with pregestational diabetes and multiple pregnancies were excluded, mothers were grouped according to their BMI, healthy weight mothers were used as reference. Maternal age, smoking and parity were used as covariates in all analyses.
