Mild extravasation damage

Pain, swelling, and/or mild erythema

Moderate extravasation damage

Moderate or severe erythema, blistering or evident pain or swelling, inflammation or lesions requiring additional treatment. All symptoms resolved within 2 weeks

Severe extravasation damage

Serious adverse effects; cyanosis, tissue necrosis, or symptoms lasting more than 2 weeks, such as persistent pain and edema, difficulty in locomotion, and cases requiring surgery
